It is bottled when it is just two years old, still very full and fruity with high levels of tannin. It matures in the bottle, reaching its peak in ten, fifteen or even longer years. But you do not have to wait that long to enjoy it.

Taylor’s Quinta de Terra Feita Vintage 2005 or 2008 Quinta de Terra Feita Vintage 2005 - Deep purple black colour with magenta highlights. Classic black fruit aromas of cherry and cassis provide a dense and impenetrable backdrop for wild scents of mint, resin and gumcistus. On the palate the same intense black fruit character merges with rich dark flavours of and liquorice and chocolate. The tannins are muscular but well integrated and the wine finishes with an explosion of berry fruit and spice. Quinta de Terra Feita Vintage 2008 - Inky purple black centre with a narrow violet rim. From the first moment the nose is drawn into a complex and powerful vortex of dense creamy blackberry, raspberry and cassis aromas fused with subtle notes of gumcistus and mint. This is classic Vintage Port with its extraordinary quality of fruit, combining power with refinement and complexity. The thickly textured tannins provide body and structure and the palate is brimming with fine concentrated black fruit flavour which flows over into the long finish.

Croft Vintage 2003 or 2007 Croft Vintage 2003 or Vintage 2007 - Very deep purple black with a narrow purple rim. Extraordinarily powerful and heady nose with an almost overpowering abundance of jammy fruit in which blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry combine with fine aromatic notes of gumcistus. Big mouth-filling palate, crammed with rich, thick tannins and bursting with luscious fruity flavour.

Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage 2005 Inky black colour with a narrow purple rim. The nose is still youthful and focused, displaying crisp, fresh raspberry and blackcurrant aromas and hints of tea leaf and plum. The palate is still relatively austere, showing plenty of depth and background. The thick velvety tannins reveal an attractive firmness and grip on the finish which is marked by a magnificent burst of fresh red berry fruit flavours.

Taylor’s Vintage 2000 Inky, purple colour. Powerful, intense, black fruit and cherry aromas with lovely fragrant aromatic notes. On the mouth this wine is in perfect harmony with beautifully balanced fruit and tannins. Rich, elegant, luscious black fruit flavours. Enormous concentration with again this attractive scented quality coming through. Long rich finish. Very stylish.

Taylor’s Vintage 2003 Inky purple black with narrow magenta rim. Classic Taylor nose, with exotic scents of violet and gumcistus set against an impenetrable background of intense dark berry fruit. Stylish and racy palate, displaying a tight fabric of sinewy tannins and packed with concentrated grapey flavours which intensify through the seemingly endless finish. Like many other great Taylor this wine is an archetype of restrained power, its elegance and breeding concealing massive inner strength and stamina.

José Maria da Fonseca & van Zeller Vale da Mina Vintage 2003 This Vintage port is big and grapey, with a mineral and spice character. Full-bodied and chewy, with a raisiny character. One of the beauties about this Vintage is that it will cellar well for a long time but it is ready for enjoyment from a very early age.

José Maria da Fonseca & van Zeller Vintage 2000 José Maria da Fonseca & van Zeller has v ineyards in the two best areas of the Douro: the small rio Pinh?o and rio Torto valleys. This Vintage port is a blend of ports from these two areas. All grapes were foot trodden in granit stone lagares for the whole duration of the fermentation and then aged in old wood vats until bottling in October 2002. It combines elegance with structure for a very long ageing Vintage port.

Taylor’s Vintage 2007 Opaque, purple black colour with a narrow violet rim. Characteristically stylish and racy, with a nose of dense blackcurrant and woodland fruit overlaid with discreet herbal nuances and scents of violet and rose petals. As usual the classic Taylor elegance and understatement conceal the wineís energy and vigour. On the palate it displays the lean, sinewy and tightly knit tannins which are so much a feature of the Taylor style and the vibrant and clearly delineated fruit flavours and which are the hallmark of the 2007 Vintage.

Fonseca Quinta do Panascal Vintage 2001, 2004 or 2005 Quinta do Panascal Vintage 2001 -Deep purple/black color. Lovely plump, typically Fonseca, voluptuous. Delicious pungent jammy fruit ñ compote of cherry and black plum. Rich and creamy. Powerful, aromatic, rich fresh fruit nose. Nice touch of cedar. Again wonderfully plump, luscious jammy fruit coming through on the mouth. Fleshy, rich, rounded. A hint of liquorice. Great, yet smooth, tannins. Good volume and balance. Nice long, succulent, lingering finish. Quinta do Panascal Vintage 2004 -A fat, plump, luscious wine. Full of rounded, ripe jammy fruit aromas. Almost warm ëmarmaladaí like note to the nose. The ripeness and richness of fruit is reinforced in the mouth with flavours of plump, bursting plums and cherries. Great notes of tobacco, smoky tea (lapsang) and spice. A warm, velvety, satiny wine. An enticingly very textural wine!

Croft Quinta da Roeda Vintage 2004, 2005 or 2007 Croft Quinta da Roeda Vintage 2004 - Characteristic complexity of spices and clove aromas seduce the senses, with fat, ripe raisins, fresh fruity raspberry, gumcistus and violet undertones. A rich opulent wine with great tannic structure. Dark plums, blackberry jam, raspberry and spice flavours on the mouth; finishing with dark bitter chocolate that stays in the palate for ever. Croft Quinta da Roeda Vintage 2005 -Inky black colour with purple highlights. The heady and exotic nose abounds in complex floral and woodland scents set against a background of rich, luscious fruit. Resiny aromas of eucalyptus and gumcistus combine with wild herbal notes of lavender and mint. The palate is full and round, crammed with flavours of plum, cherry and blackcurrant jam. The tannins are very well integrated, remaining discreet on the mid palate but emerging to give an attractive grip to the long luscious, fruity finish. Croft Quinta da Roeda Vintage 2007 - Deep inky purple with narrow magenta rim. The nose is redolent of potent and heady gumcistus, eucalyptus and Mediterranean hillside scents enveloping a soft luscious core of rich jammy raspberry fruit. Subtle and fleeting hints of cedar, woodsmoke and coffee provide an additional layer of multi-dimensional complexity. This is an archetypal RoÍda nose with its exotic resiny fragrances and opulent fruit. The palate is characteristically plump and round but firmly supported by solid perfectly integrated tannins. The long finish is propelled by a vigorous burst of sumptuous fruit restrained by an attractive tannic grip.

Romariz Vintage 1994 or 1997 These are wines of one single harvest, produced in a year of outstanding quality. The most concentrated wines in terms of colour, aroma and fullness of palate are set aside from the harvest. After following their evolution for two years, if decided the wines has the qualities necessary for a Vintage, it is bottled directly from the vat without filtration.

Portal - Vintage 1997 or 2000 - wooden gift box Portal Vintage 1997 -The Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz grapes used to produce the 1997 Vintage were picked on the 16th September 1997 and then gently crushed in stone lagares. The result is a beautiful dark red wine with lovely fruit and chocolate aromas. It is full bodied with soft, round tannins. Although still young and therefore quite closed, it has a very well balanced finish in the mouth. Portal Vintage 2000 -The Vintage 2000 results from a blend of wines, whose grapes came from the old vines of Quinta dos Muros, vinified in stone lagares and in stainless-steel fermentation vats. In the lagares acquire a rusticity and an excellent structure and have complemented this with the aromatic finesse atained in the stainless steel vats. It's dark ruby in colour with predominance of some floral aromas. Full-bodied, it has lively but round tannins and a lush, lingering finish.

Taylor’s Quinta de Vargellas, Vintage 2004 or 2005 Quinta de Vargellas Vintage 2004 - Powerful, pungent, aromatic nose with ripe, rich, juicy, berry fruit aromas; overlaid with wonderful characteristic floral notes. This wine has a bouquet with great depth and layers of intense fresh fruit. On the palate, the freshness of berry fruit continues, combining with rich chocolate and liquorice flavours of equal intensity. The tannins are firm but well integrated, resulting in a beautifully structured and balanced wine. Texturally the wine is smooth and silky, leaving one with the sensation of a well crafted, stylish, extremely elegant wine. Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage 2008 Very deep purple black with violet highlights. As would be expected of a Guimaraens Vintage Port, the first impression on the nose is of a powerful detonation of blackberry, cassis, strawberry and woodland fruit. These exuberant berry aromas are seasoned with notes of coffee, treacle and spice and surrounded by a fragrant balsamic aura of gumcistus and mint. The intense fruit flows through the palate like a thick blackcurrant coulis. The palate is supported by a taut fabric of closely woven tannins and the long finish resounds with a final blast of sumptuous ripe berry flavour.

Romariz Vintage 2000 or 2003 These two Vintage wines have very intense purple colour with a bright magenta rim. Wonderfully complex, multi-dimensional nose redolent of cedar and rich plummy fruit, with attractive delicate spicy notes. The palate is round and full, showing an abundance of luscious jammy flavour and a solid framework of muscular tannins. A lusty aromatic wine bound to outshine many more expensive wines of the 2000 Vintage year
